Sometimes moving from one thing to another may seem really difficult and unachievable especially if the journey has a lot of obstacles. But, if you have a goal that you really want to achieve and you set your mind on it, you can achieve it by following these 3 secrets.
Today, I’ll be telling you how I went from a 9 to 5 job to winning the world championship across 150 countries in closing sales. There are three important things that really helped me in achieving this! Let’s get right into it!
1.Get Clarity:
When I was in a job I knew that my job was a temporary thing. I needed it for the cash flow but I knew that I wanted to get out of it and have my own business. So what I wanted to do was very clear to me.
So the first thing that you need to have is ‘Clarity’ on what you want to do. Now you see the majority of people focus on the “How?” but I encourage you to not do that. The key is the “What?”, focus only on that!
90% of the people focus on ‘how’ exactly to do it. But that’s wrong because when you focus on the ‘How’ you’re forgetting about your end goal in life. So, just focus on the ‘What’ and along the way you pivot as you go because things will not be the same.
When you’re moving along there will be these aspects where you’ll feel like you did not see it coming or you did not think about it before. So firstly get clarity on where you want to go and from there until your destination, you pivot and do changes as the journey goes.
That’s what I did. I wanted to quit my job and have my own business. I knew my ‘What’ and along the way, I tried everything and finally reached my goal!
2.Bring Your Family On The Journey:
Now, in my situation, I have a wife, I’ve got two kids…so for me, the most important thing was bringing my family on the journey because what happens is along the way from the job to where I wanted to be, there were going to be many ups and downs. So, it’s very important to have your family’s support. Even if they’re not in the business with you, that’s completely ok; all you need is their support to say “You can do it!”
When you start something new and you really want to achieve it, there will be many ups and downs along the way, there may be times when you will feel like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster ride and you will feel like giving up…so having your family, your loved ones by your side to support you is very crucial.
I felt like giving up so many times in my own journey but I had my wife to support me throughout! So initially what I did was I got my wife on the journey, we did courses together, we saw YouTube channels together, we read books together and we tried to do anything that would help in the business together.
So, all along this journey, our mindset was always the same. Yes, there can be gaps and it might not always be 100% support but that’s ok! If you get the support, you will actually move to your destination faster.
Now, what I’ve seen a lot of people do is that they start their journey alone and once they have reached halfway through, then they bring their wife or their family on the journey but by then it’s too late because you’re going to feel a lot of frustration along the way.
So my encouragement to you is if you really want to get from where you are to where you want to be, bring your partner on the journey when you start. It might feel like there’s no progress but that progress will take some time. But once you get the support you will move really fast.
3. Focus:
Thirdly, what I did was focus! Now that you know what you want, where to go from your starting point to the end and you’ve got your partner on the journey, now just focus!
You see what was happening to me in the beginning when I was looking at other people winning, I started focusing on their wins and how they went up there. So, instead of focusing on myself, I was actually focusing on someone else.
I was wasting time looking at other people winning which is an absolute waste of time because they are on a completely different journey than me!
So, don’t get distracted. Let them win! If they’re winning, you wish them well because when you wish them well you bring in energy and you feel good! So focus on yourself because what they did is they also focused on themselves. If you focus on them and you’re not focusing on yourself, then you will not get to your end goal.
So, what I did and the way I focused was, that I was working in a full-time job and a part-time job; I spent 90 hours a week for almost 18 to 20 months just focusing on this. I made some sacrifices like giving up my TV time and I gave up on a lot of other things as well because I had my partner on my journey and I could sacrifice a lot of other things and I just focused.
CONCLUSION
So, that focus that I built got me not only out of my job but it helped me win the world champion in sales closing! So, the three secrets that helped me through this journey are Number One: Get clarity; Number Two: Bring your partner on the journey and Number Three: Focus.
