Key Skills Required To Be An Effective Sales Closer — PART 2

The very first thing I want to clarify here is that it’s not just about closing. An effective sale is actually about what happens before that. For me, it all started from having those habits, the desire and working with my family!

Once I got my family on the journey, the way I learnt the best is actually by sharing what I learned. So I started learning, practising and actually sharing.

Recently, I won the worldwide champion, Sales Closer of the year award. It was a competition between 6,300 people from 150 countries across the world! So, today I shall share a little about my journey on how I got there!

1.Help the person get value:

One is by helping the person get value. I was coaching a lot of people from all around the world. I was doing late night coaching calls since I’m in Australia, someone was in Sweden, someone was in Canada and so on…I was actually coaching them at the oddest times because of the time differences across the world. I did this because I wanted to add value to them, not just for the sake of it.

So, the same applies when you are closing someone for a sale. You need to add value to that person, understand and really give that person something more than what they would expect. That is when you will be able to close a sale easily. So, it’s really just about giving more!

2.Learn and share knowledge:

The second is learning and sharing knowledge. By doing so, I was able to anchor that knowledge within me. When you keep doing it consistently, it becomes second nature. The key aspect here is if you’re planning to win anything or really get the best out of yourself, then just learn to share it.

When I first started my journey, I used to think that the knowledge I had was only mine and not something I should be sharing with others! I soon realised that it’s actually the total opposite. The more you share the more you will really understand and anchor that in yourself.

3.Practise Practise Practise:

The third part which really got to me when I started connecting with people was speaking on stage because I knew that when I would win the world companion award, I would have to speak on stage in front of 1500 people; which I had never done before. So, I started practising “How to speak on the stage”, as that had become one of my very big goals.

It was really about having a conversation with the audience, being vulnerable, and showing them where I’ve come from, how I can help…so that we can relate! I wanted people to know that we were the same; that I started from zero, and maybe someone out there that’s actually starting from zero as well can also reach where I was.

It’s about showing how I can help and making it relatable. That’s what I learned and that’s where the connection got created. That’s what got me to the next level.

So, even when you first start closing sales, you must remember to keep practising and never stop. Practice is the key to success. There is no shortcut to it.

CONCLUSION

So these are the three steps that I followed that really helped me improve myself and reach that next level in my life. I followed the same principles even to close sales. So, If you are someone who is lost and you have no idea how to get up there and reach your goals, that’s completely ok. Because I started from scratch too but I was able to push through and reach my goals, so can you, if you must implement these 3 steps that I spoke about: Helping the person get value, secondly learning and sharing the knowledge and thirdly Practising.
