How To Control Your Mind For Success

In today’s world, everyone is behind success but most don’t realise that success comes mostly by controlling your mind and having the right mindset. It’s always 80% mindset and 20% skillset. Hence mind control plays a major role in achieving success in any aspect of life and it’s important to master it! Today I’m going to share with you my secrets on how I control my mind for success.

Before I do so, let us first understand what mind control is. In my definition there’s one word that defines ‘Mind Control’ extremely well and that is ‘Mindset’. Mindset is one of the key ingredients to success.

Types Of Mindsets

There are two kinds of mindsets:

1. Fixed Mindset: A fixed mindset person is someone that has a limiting belief and once they reach a ceiling, they just feel like they can’t go any further. When faced with a problem, a fixed mindset person always feels like things are too hard and they can’t do it. So, when they get criticised they take it very negatively and give up!

2. Growth Mindset: A growth mindset person is someone when faced with a problem, takes it on as a challenge and works towards solving it. They take in any criticisms and failures and just go through it and drive themselves towards success.

Now how do I know all this is because I used to be a fixed mindset person and I’ve changed into a growth mindset person. When I did that I actually achieved amazing success with high performance. So, a growth mindset is what high achievers follow.

Did you know that ‘Colonel Harland Sanders’, the guy who invented KFC got his first success when he was 65 years old? He failed one thousand and nine times before he got his first success. Imagine if he was a fixed mindset person; he would have stopped at the first failure, but he kept going on and because of his growth mindset, we have KFC today.

The second story that really resonated with me was of ‘Thomas Edison’ the greatest inventor in America. He said “I have not failed; I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Now how powerful is that? When I heard this, it just made me think what I’m doing is just another step to success and that’s when I changed my mindset.

Secrets on how I changed my mindset

So here are my secrets of how I changed from having a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. So the three secrets that have really helped me transform my mindset are:

SECRET 1: When I used to face any difficult situation in the past where let’s say I wanted to buy something, I would be like, “This is too expensive; I can’t afford it…I just can’t…” Now that’s a fixed mindset whereas the questions I ask myself now after switching to a growth mindset are, “How can I afford it? What do I need to do to afford it?” instead of saying I can’t afford it. This is how I changed my mind from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset in that moment itself.

SECRET 2: When I used to face a really tough challenge in the past, I would try taking up the challenge but I would feel like giving up after trying three to five times! “That’s it… I can’t do it, that’s my maximum ceiling” I would say. But now after switching to a growth mindset, when I get a challenge, I don’t step back, instead I ask myself “Ok, we have a challenge so there must be a solution to it, so what is that solution?” and this way I change my mind to say “There’s always a solution; I’m going to search for it, I’m going to find the solution and I’m going to overcome the challenge” So, this is what I do to overcome my fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

SECRET 3: This third secret is really powerful and is one of the things that resonates with me to another level! When I realised, it changed my life. We face problems all the time… friend problems, family problems, work problems and what not. In the past I used to whinge about all my problems, I used to feel like I’m stuck in a really bad situation and I used to keep feeling low, think about it all the time and whine about it but now after switching to a growth mindset when I see a problem, I try to find a way on how I can solve them. I realised that “Problems equals to Opportunities” so when I see a problem I tell myself that every problem is an opportunity and I want to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way! So turn every problem that comes your way into an opportunity and take advantage of it.

BONUS Learning: I want to leave you with one bonus today that brings me energy every time I say it and changes me from a fixed mindset person to a growth mindset person. “Rich people do hard things today so that they can lead an easy life in the future while poor people do easy things today, that’s why their life is hard” So the question is to you, do you want an easy life or do you want a hard life; do you want to stay in a fixed mindset or you want to move to a growth mindset? The choice is yours; make it before you regret not changing your mindset for success.

Conclusion

So, this is what I do to control my mind for success. Remember the three secrets I shared with you and always see any problem as an opportunity to do better and achieve something bigger. If you want something bad enough then you will find a way to get it! Always focus on having a Growth Mindset over a Fixed Mindset, because that is how you can control your mind for success.
