Limiting Beliefs I Discovered While Moving Into Business As An Entrepreneur

I have often been asked what kind of limiting beliefs I discovered about myself while moving into the business world as an entrepreneur. Of course, I had a lot of limiting beliefs just like any other person that is new to business.

But as I gained self-awareness and got trained by my coaches and mentors, I realised what my limiting beliefs were and I broke through it all.

Let Go Of Self-doubt:

One of the top limiting beliefs that I had as an entrepreneur is “Self-doubt” about whether or not I could do it because it’s a brand new world when you start a business.

There’s always this thought of ‘What if it doesn’t work?’ or ‘What if it doesn’t go as planned?’ But then I changed my mindset and went from negative to positive.

I told myself “Why do I focus on ‘What if it doesn’t work’? Let’s focus on ‘What if it actually works!’ So that’s what I tell myself every day: “I’m going to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

Let Go Of Fear Of Loss:

So when I entered into business from the corporate world, I did have that thought that it’s a brand new world but more than that I also had that fear that I’m leaving so much behind! All the growth I had at my job and all the years that went into it… I was leaving it all behind to start my business.

Then I realised something big! Having that fear of loss and telling myself, that I’m leaving my previous old world while starting a brand new one is just not right. Yes, I was certainly leaving behind my job, my old workspace and the position I was in but what I didn’t realise is that I had gained so much more than that.

I actually learned a lot while I was on the job. Here are some of the most important skills I learned while I was on my job!

I learned:

  1. How to connect with people
  2. Leadership styles
  3. Management
  4. How to grow businesses at a high level
  5. How to manage funds
  6. Marketing and sales
  7. Accounting
  8. Programming
  9. Team Work

I learned all of these things so what am I really losing here? Not much! Right? In fact, now I can actually bring all of these skills I learned there into my business and implement them for better results and growth!

When I sort of made that shift in my thinking, I understood how to embrace it all instead of being in a fear of loss! That’s when I had that confidence and those self-limiting beliefs just went away.

CONCLUSION

When you start a business, it is very normal to have such self-limiting beliefs. I went through that phase too as you can see above. But how do you get out of it?

Just remember that you started this business because you believed in yourself and your idea. Don’t let others or yourself make you feel otherwise. Don’t let self-doubt disturb your progress!

Secondly, you have nothing to lose from your past when those past experiences actually brought you to where you are today and can take you to where you want to be in the future.
