Do you often have people around passing comments at you like “What have you done? This is a stupid idea…you’re going to fail!” or “You know what? I’ll tell you how to do it! Don’t worry… just listen to me.”
And suddenly after listening to everything, everyone are saying, you get demotivated and give up on that brilliant idea that you just had in mind? Then read on! Because today, I’m going to share with you how I personally overcame all of that.
When I first started my business, I had to deal with a lot of people passing comments at me and judging my ideas and my approach! But I didn’t care about what other people said. I just believed in myself and I got success!
Through this journey, I learned 3 very important lessons!
1.Don’t Be A People Pleaser:
As a child, I grew up learning how to be nice to people around me and say good things to everyone which also created this programming in my mind to care about what these people say and I saw myself being a people pleaser!
I would always have thoughts that if I do something wrong then certain people would feel bad! But what I realised is that when you start pleasing others you forget to please yourself!
Similarly, when you have an idea and you start thinking about what others will say, you forget to think about how you feel about your own idea and you forget about doing it!
One day, I came across one quote by Lao Tzu which changed my whole perspective. He says “Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.” Now let me ask you this question! Do you want to be someone’s prisoner or do you want to be free?
So when you have an idea, do you want to keep pleasing others or are you going to believe in yourself and implement your idea? The choice is yours.
I learned this the hard way! It took me a long time and today I’m sharing what I’ve learned with you so it inspires you too!
2. Your Opinion Matters The Most:
When you have an idea, everybody’s going to have their own opinions; good opinions… bad opinions… crazy opinions… opinions everywhere but think about this! If they keep giving you their opinions and you listen to them, then it becomes their idea, not yours!!! So do you want to implement your idea or their idea?
Now, when this happened to me, where people were always giving their opinions I was thinking to myself… ‘They are giving me so many ideas then why haven’t they done it themselves?’ You see, it’s because they don’t believe in it!!!
So if you believe in your idea, only your opinion matters. Just go for it and believe in yourself.
3.Be Prepared To Have Haters:
When you grow, be prepared to have haters. There’s a saying: “If you don’t have haters; you’re probably doing it the wrong way…” You will always have haters who exist only to pass comments and pull you down but remember that when people pull you down it gives you the strength to lift yourself up!
You see if there are haters on one side, who hate you and are always passing negative comments, there are also people who love you! Yes! If there’s an idea that someone hates; there’s an idea that someone loves!
So, just focus on the people who love your idea and are there to support you and push you always! So, stop worrying about what people say. Just believe in yourself! Just know one thing! “Haters are there to hate; you’re there to share and inspire people, so go for it!”
CONCLUSION
So, that’s the secret! When you have an idea, at first people will ignore you but don’t worry, you just believe in your idea and keep moving forward. Next as and when you keep moving up towards success you will have people who will start laughing at you but you again just keep going and you ignore them!
Next comes the best part: Haters! As we discussed above, you will have haters and that’s when you know you’re going in the right direction so don’t care and be prepared to reach the biggest aspect which is Success!
So if you have an idea, just go for it! I’m with you! I believe in your idea. Don’t worry if people laugh at you, you just laugh back and when you have haters, bear with them, ignore them and success will come your way! Just believe in yourself and you can do it. All the best!
